Ideal Man: James Caan
Each person has his own ideal. A woman has her own idea of an ideal man, and a man has his own idea of an ideal woman. And, of course, there are standards that many people look up to. James Caan was one such person.
James Caan was born March 26, 1940 in the Bronx, New York. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Germany – Sofia and Arthur Kaan. My father was a meat supplier and butcher. James Caan studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
After graduation, he worked in theaters on Broadway. He played his first role on television in 1963 in Billy Wilder’s Tender Irma. And a year later, in 1964, he was given a more significant role as a bully and punk in the thriller Lady. James Caan continued his acting career in such films as The Untouchables, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Fight! and etc.
In 1965, the actor played racing driver Michael in the movie Red Line 7000. After this role, James Caan got the image of a tough, strong guy, a little quick-tempered, but confident in his abilities. This image was further strengthened by the actor after James Caan played Santino Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather in 1972. This role made him famous and formed the image of a real man on the screen.
In 1980, Caan tried himself as a director and made the film Hide in Plain Sight. From 1982 to 1987, the actor was depressed after the death of his sister, did not act in films, and he began to have problems with cocaine. At the same time, he managed to try himself as a coach of a baseball team. However, since the late 80s, the actor returned to the cinema.
James Caan has been married four times. From 1960 to 1966 at D.J. Mathis, they have a daughter, Tara Kaan. From 1976 to 1977 on the ex-girlfriend of Elvis Presley – Sheila Ryan. Their common son Scott Caan is also an actor now. From 1990 to 1995, the actor was married to Ingrid Hayek. In 1991, their son Alexander J. Caan was born. James Caan’s fourth marriage to Linda Stokes lasted from 1996 until 2009. The couple have two sons, James Arthur Caan and Jacob Nicholas Caan.
Possessing a role of a neurotic, rare for Hollywood, actor James Caan starred in more than sixty films and TV shows. At the same time, it is worth noting that throughout his life he was engaged in karate and at the moment he is a 6th dan master of Gosoku Ryu and the holder of the Soke Dai title. One of the main rules of his life was a skeptical attitude towards popularity, and he repeatedly repeated that it was not possible to make a career all his life. It is not the most important thing in a person’s life.
