Margot Robbie to star in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ spin-off after Johnny Depp leaves the project

After the departure of 57-year-old Johnny Depp from the adventure franchise Pirates of the Caribbean, its creators began to look for a new hero to try to push the image of Captain Jack Sparrow created by the actor in the hearts of the audience. And, it seems, they found, but not a hero, but a heroine. Margot Robbie, 29, has signed on to star in the Pirates of the Caribbean spin-off.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new "Pirates …" will be a reboot of the project and an attempt to see if it can exist without Johnny Depp. Pirates of the Caribbean was one of the most financially successful franchises in cinematic history, grossing over $4.5 billion across five films.

The Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, which will now revolve around a pirate, is being written and produced by Christina Hodson, who previously worked with Margot Robbie on Birds of Prey. Behind Hodson also wrote the scripts for the spin-off "Transformers" (Transformers) and "Batgirl" (Batgirl).
Johnny Depp’s departure from the project was influenced by personal problems, including litigation and a scandalous divorce from 34-year-old Amber Heard, who accused the actor of domestic violence. Now, we recall, Depp is suing her again, accusing her of libel. After information appeared in the press that the actress herself used physical and psychological violence against her husband, Johnny’s fans launched an online campaign in support of him and created a petition calling for Disney to return Depp as Jack Sparrow.
