Vegetarian menu and no plastic: what will be abandoned at the Oscars this year
Earlier this year, guests were offered an all-vegetarian menu at the Golden Globe Awards Gala. The famous actor Joaquin Phoenix, who is extremely concerned about climate change, which, in his opinion, is connected with animal husbandry, had a hand in this. Incidentally, he also said this in his speech when he went out for an award for his role in the film "Joker" (Joker), – Phoenix won in the nomination "Best Dramatic Actor".
Many other stars are also worried about the climate crisis – for example, Jennifer Aniston and Russell Crowe mentioned it in their speeches, calling for a fight against it.
All this, of course, could not go unnoticed – the organizers of the Oscars took note of this and announced that the menu of the gala ceremony would be completely vegetable, and in addition, plastic bottles would be abandoned at the Oscars.
The official statement from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences says.
However, such changes will not affect the Governor’s Ball, the traditional dinner after the Oscars. Here the menu will be distributed as follows: 70 percent of it will consist of plant foods and only 30 percent of food of animal origin.
