Yves Saint Laurent
In Jalille Lespert’s Yves Saint Laurent, we learn the story of one of the greatest men in the fashion world. From his leadership position at Dior to starting his own fashion house, the film attempts to tell the life of a French couturier without embellishment. Pierre Naigny for the role of Yves Saint Laurent received the César Award, surpassing Gaspard Ulliel, who played the same role in Bertrand Bonello’s film Saint Laurent.
The Devil Wears Prada
When the film’s heroine Andrea Sachs takes on the role of Miranda Priestley’s assistant, editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, she experiences a real culture shock. Sachs doesn’t care too much about his appearance and has some disdain for the fashion world, which Miranda Priestley quickly notices and criticizes afterwards. With plenty of humor and five-star acting, this adaptation of Lauren Weisberger’s novel becomes a must-see.
Coco before Chanel
From her boarding school childhood to her first skills as a dressmaker in Paris, through the birth of her fashion house, Anna Fonteyn’s biopic Coco Before Chanel is a detailed look at the incredible life of Gabrielle Chanel, who throws herself into her work with as much passion as she does into love stories. French actress Audrey Tautou, who plays the role of Coco, gracefully embodies this great Mademoiselle. The French director decided to focus on the fashion designer before her heyday in order to better understand the woman behind the fashion icon.
A young girl, played by Elle Fanning, travels to Los Angeles in hopes of starting a modeling career. Her meteoric rise to the top and impeccable appearance make other models jealous. While some models look down on her, others do everything to ruin her success.
In the 2015 Australian film Jocelyn Moorhouse, the stunning Kate Winslet plays the role of a dressmaker named Tilly, who returns to her small hometown in Australia after spending time in Europe. Tilly’s motives aren’t all that innocent, considering the former neighbors who ruined her childhood.
None other than the house of Chanel provided the costumes for this film directed by Olivier Assayas and starring Kristen Stewart. The actress plays a troubled assistant haunted by the spirit of her dead twin brother. In the end, she is forced to steal from her employer, but who is to blame for this?
