The method consists in the fact that the man "leaves" the woman before ejaculation, and thus his seed does not enter the vagina, which means that pregnancy is excluded. This method has been used for centuries, and is very actively used today. However, it does not guarantee safe sex. Sooner or later, with this method of protection, pregnancy will still occur. Also, this method absolutely does not protect a woman from various diseases. 

Safe days method

This method consists in the presence of so-called "safe" days for a woman associated with her cycle. In fact, days 1-14 after ovulation are safe, and starting from day 15. In other words, scientists who insist on this method claim that a woman can become pregnant only on the 11-15th day of her cycle. However, this method does not take into account the viability of spermatozoa, which can "live" in the vagina up to 9 days after intercourse. In fact, this method is more suitable for those who want to get pregnant.

Vaginal douching

Reliability of the method 10-15%

The method consists in the fact that after sexual intercourse, liquids are introduced into the vagina that kill spermatozoa. for example – Chlorhexedine or Intim Spray. However, the reliability of this method is very low due to the fact that, firstly, spermatozoa move very quickly, and secondly, they can “hide" in the mucous secretions of the uterus from a kind of “shower” from a douche. This method is more suitable in order to protect yourself from infections after unprotected intercourse. And we must not forget that constant douching can change the flora of your uterus, and you will end up with a lot of problems.

Method reliability 60-70%

Yes, oddly enough, this most common method in our country protects you from sexually transmitted diseases, but not from pregnancy. The thing is, condoms break. Yes, and because of the friction on the condom, strips are formed through which spermatozoa are able to "leak" into the vagina.

Diaphragm (cap) 

The reliability of the method is 70-80%

The essence of the method lies in the fact that a special cap is placed in the woman’s vagina, which protects against pregnancy. The diaphragm should be installed only before the start of sexual intercourse, and removed no later than three hours after removal.

A correctly set diaphragm is a fairly reliable method. But this method is contraindicated for those who suffer from cervical erosion, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. And with prolonged use, a woman can "earn" ulcers or erosion.

Spiral 

Method reliability 75-80%

The spiral is also a fairly reliable method of contraception. But when installing it, you must remember that with a spiral, menstruation is much more painful and lasts longer, and it is also contraindicated for women who have not given birth. Also, the spiral can lead to infection (after all, in fact, the cervix is ​​​​always open), erosion and other negative consequences.

Chemical contraception (candles, pills, etc.)

A convenient and reliable method of contraception, if not for one thing. These drugs kill not only viruses and sperm, but also beneficial bacteria. Therefore, their long-term use can also lead to negative consequences.

Hormonal tablets (oral) 

Reliability of the method 95-97%

This means of protection has become almost a discovery of the XX century. With the correct use of hormonal pills, you have complete protection against unwanted pregnancy. The only "BUT" when using this protection is that such pills will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases. However, if you have a permanent partner in whom you are confident, then these pills are probably the most convenient and correct method of contraception.

Hormonal injections

It is also a fairly reliable method, which has its own BUT. The fact is that this is a variant of long-term contraception, which cannot be stopped. That is, if you change your mind, or if you have side effects of hormonal injections, you will have to endure them until the end of the medication. The injection is usually done for 2-3 months.

Hormonal implants 

Method reliability 100%

The method is absolutely reliable, but it is suitable only for those women who are sure that they will no longer give birth. The method is one-sided – you will never be able to stop its action, so think before installing implants.

Medical sterilization 

Method reliability 100%

It is also an irreversible method, which can be used by women over the age of 35, and she must have 2-3 children. In fact, sterilization is a surgical operation in which a woman’s tubes are tied, and she will absolutely never get pregnant again.
