Mother of many children Meryl Streep

2

Hollywood actress Meryl Streep is the record holder for Oscar nominations and a three-time winner of this award. Work is an important part of her life, but family is much more important to her. Meryl Streep has a strong marriage to sculptor Don Gummer and four adult children. She considers the role of a mother the most difficult, but also the best in her life.

In the poignant 1979 drama Kramer vs. Kramer, Meryl Streep played the role of a mother forced to leave her child and then trying to win custody of him in court. This role was played by the actress so brilliantly that her own motherhood was practically beyond doubt. However, at that time she had no children yet. Then she deservedly received her first Oscar, and a year later, her first child, Henry, was born.

In 1982, the audience was shocked by another role of Meryl Streep, in which she has to make difficult decisions regarding her own children. This is Sophie’s Choice, which brought the actress a second Oscar. Upon receiving the statuette, Meryl was pregnant with her second child, Mamie’s daughter.

In the early 80s, Meryl Streep still starred a lot. She traveled all over the world, carrying her little son with her. That all changed when, on the set of Out of Africa in 1985, 6-year-old Henry firmly told her, "Enough, Mom, I don’t want to go anywhere else." Then the actress for the first time seriously realized the need to choose between family and work.

In 1986 and 1992, two more daughters were added to the Streep-Gummer family. Meryl Streep has always admitted that she dreamed of a large number of children, and she used to achieve her own. There were fewer and fewer projects in the cinema, but the actress always chose them so carefully and laid out so much on the set that, basically, hits were obtained. So, in 1990, the drama based on the autobiographical script by Carrie Fisher “Postcards from the End of the World" was released, in 1995 – “Bridges of Madison County”, the next year – “Marvin’s Room”, in 1999 – “Music of the Heart”, in 2002 – “Watch " etc.

Most of the time, Meryl Streep lived the life of an ordinary housewife. She and her husband took the children away from the outbreaks of the paparazzi and the dangerous life of Los Angeles for the younger generation to provincial Connecticut. Meryl cooked, cleaned and washed on her own, drove the children to school, knitted and sewed. Of the entertainment, she had only walks in the mountains and family picnics on the lake.

In the mid-2000s, Meryl Streep appeared on the screen in a new role for herself. It was the heroine of the film "The Devil Wears Prada", the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine. For filming, the actress had to lose weight and learn to understand fashion, which she, by her own admission, does not like and does not understand how you can shell out $ 10,000 for some clothes. However, this is not visible on the screen, the character of Streep turned out to be so reliable that even his prototype, strict Anna Wintour, the editor of Vogue magazine, liked it.

Meryl Streep’s children have already grown up and went their own way. Henry’s only son became a musician, daughter Mamie became an actress. In 2007, she starred alongside her mother in the drama Evening. They performed the same role, only with a difference of 35 years. Daughter Grace also chose the acting path, and the youngest Louise is in college.

The children have left the parental nest, but Meryl Streep continues to choose roles carefully and is always trying to learn something new. In 2008, the musical comedy Mamma Mia was released, where the actress had to remember her vocal abilities, which she developed in her youth. She diluted this commercial hit with the drama Doubt. The difference between the characters was striking: the cheerful and energetic Donna had nothing in common with the strict and correct nun Sister Eloise.

2009 was also marked by two different works. It was the comedy-drama Simple Difficulties and the biopic Julie & Julia. The following biography brought the actress a third Oscar gold statuette in 2011. In it, she played the role of Margaret Thatcher. The events described in the film were considered controversial by many, but the actress’s performance was unanimously recognized as brilliant.

What if the purpose of the relationship is something unconditional for which both the man and the woman could take responsibility? What if this is… the practice of love? Love is what is within us; something for which we are responsible in both good and bad times. Love allows us to focus on our own efforts and responsibilities, as well as to notice the advantages of our partner. Too many people focus on taking something from the relationship. But, for a harmonious relationship, you need to give, take responsibility for your happiness, and then “invest” it in others.
