Depression after the holidays: go to work and not die of longing


According to the observation of psychologists, by the end of the holidays, most people begin to mope and wait with a heavy heart for the onset of the working week. The decisive role is played by the duration of rest: going to work after the long May or New Year holidays is more difficult and fraught with the development of depression. You can smoothly enter the workflow and make the most of the accumulated forces only by adhering to the correct change in your own life rhythms.

The process of adapting to work after the holidays directly depends on whether you love your job. If you are doing an interesting and favorite thing, then the rest will only be a pleasant break, after which you can easily and with pleasure return to the working environment. When there is no love, the upcoming exit is perceived as a punishment. In this case, try to look at the familiar environment with a different look and determine what you dislike about work the most. Try to reduce the routine as much as possible, change the nature of your duties and make the work rhythm more relaxed.

In the first days after the rest, try not to overload yourself with additional or unfamiliar activities for you. Start with the daily activities that you do regularly. After a certain time, you can start solving new problems. Properly distribute the daily workload, clearly working out a plan for prioritizing the accumulated tasks. Solve them gradually, then you will not have the feeling that all things have fallen on your head at once.

Try to complete the work during the working day so as not to linger at the workplace at least in the first days after the holidays. Do not take home what you did not have time to finish at work, do not conduct business conversations at home. In the evening, fully relax, enjoy communication with family and friends.

Support your body with a nutritious diet, regular walks in the fresh air, and strengthening physical exercises. All this contributes to the development in the human body of special hormones of happiness – endorphins. Do not try to cheer up with alcohol, and if you want to get rid of a depressed state, it is better to eat a banana or a piece of dark chocolate. These foods are powerful antidepressants.

What if the purpose of the relationship is something unconditional for which both the man and the woman could take responsibility? What if this is… the practice of love? Love is what is within us; something for which we are responsible in both good and bad times. Love allows us to focus on our own efforts and responsibilities, as well as to notice the advantages of our partner. Too many people focus on taking something from the relationship. But, for a harmonious relationship, you need to give, take responsibility for your happiness, and then “invest" it in others.
