How to like a new team?

It is very difficult for each person to join a new work team and become “one of their own". Some simply cannot avoid conflict or stressful situations, so they change their jobs very often. In fact, there is nothing difficult in adaptation.

The main thing in this process is to establish relationships with new colleagues and learn how to solve the problems that have arisen with a minimum share of losses.

Rule number 1. "I’m the best!"

Remember, as soon as you find yourself in a new team, you do not need to tell your colleagues about your achievements at the previous job on the first day. Also, do not put yourself above others, showing that you are the best. Such behavior will only cause dissatisfaction with the team, and you will once and for all become an outcast for them. Being a leader is always good, but you need to show it not on the first working day (week). It is better to keep silent about your merits. If you really have them, then soon the team will notice and appreciate it.

Rule number 2. Hyperactivity.

If you behave in this way and try to please every employee of the company, this can only cause distrust in your person in the team. According to statistics, people who behave too hyperactively are considered insincere and hypocritical.

If you see a smile on the face of your new colleagues, this does not mean that they like you and that they are ready to accept you as “their own”. This smile may be a manifestation of mockery of your behavior. Therefore, here you need to be restrained and calm.

Rule number 3. Help in the work.

If you notice that colleagues do not pay any attention to you, then ask them for help. It should relate specifically to work issues, because joint work helps to improve relations in the team. If colleagues understand that you need them, they will begin to feel significant and important to you. Over time, you will become very good friends with them.

Rule number 4. Work on yourself.

If you don’t like your newly-made colleagues, then here already look for the reason in yourself. Perhaps it is you who are too demanding and picky about people. Analyze your behavior and realize that you are unlikely to be able to rebuild the entire team for yourself.

There is always something to sacrifice and give in, so find a "golden mean" and be content with what you have. Do not look for bad qualities in colleagues, look for good ones.

Rule number 5. Do not advise.

If you think that someone needs your advice – work or personal, then you are mistaken. No one will listen to a newcomer in an established team. First you need to prove yourself, recommend yourself and let others know that you can be relied upon. If colleagues need your advice, they will definitely ask for it. Therefore, it is better to fulfill your direct duties, and do not follow everyone with your advice.

Every team has its own rules, regulations and norms. If you reckon with them, and also take into account the above rules, then in the near future you will become completely “your own”.
